How am I going to learn to play the guitar without spanding hundreds of dollars on classes?

April 10, 2009

Hey man,

I have to admit here on something – I am a guitar addict. From the first time I heard that dirty sound of a distorted electric guitar in Pearl Jams Alive, or the the acoustic sound, like in Civil War, I decided that a day will come, and I would be able that make this sound by myself.

You probably know what I mean, that’s why you are reading this article, I am sure you are an addict yourself.

As I said before, it started long ago. My mom bought me my first guitar when I was 13. I was sure I’m going to tear down the stadiums in a matter of no time. As you probably understood, that didn’t happen. I forgat about the existence of my guitar in the back side of the closet, putting it out once a couple of years, and forgetting about it again. The years flew by, and when I turned 22 I took it out again, and saw that it was ruined. I decided that this is a sign! I went and bought a new one, an electric guitar. I decided that this time it would be different. This time I would learn to play. This time I’m for real. But how?

My motivation was high, so the first thing I did, is to find to best teacher around. He was quite expensive, but it was worth it, in the beginning. My technique was improving, but I was tired of it. The price was getting heavy on me, and my work was getting me losing more and more lessons, which I paid for anyway. I decided I should find something more flexible.  My teacher refused to recommend – he told me that If  I leave him, I would never be able to play a simple tune.

I decided not to give up, and look for it by myself. I searched the web from beginning to end, until I found something: Jamoroama.

This Jamorama is simply an “all in one” kit for the enthusiast guitarist, with 44 chapters of lessons and various techniques, form a level of total beginner, to pretty adavanced. Plus, much more material of video lessons, and practice programs such as a game that teaches you to play guitar by ear – you would play every song that you hear, right away.

Well, Jamorama suited me perfectly – at the moment I was back from work, I sat down and began to play. Of course, I practiced a lot, but the fun in Jamorama’s method is what kept me going.

The moment I’ve got Jamorama I also got:

– The “ear training game”

– a music reading game

– A guitar tuning instruction

– SongPond

– Video lessons for your favorite songs

What brought me to write this article us, you won’t believe, a gig that I gave with my band, two days ago (I needed one more day to get over the hangover…) which I was playing the lead guitar some covers to Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more, and guess what – it was great! Almost a year and a half after I purchased the kit, and half a year after I finished it.

Well, the only bad thing Is that the whole program costs 50$, but between us, that’s what I paid for a single lesson (I told you my teacher was expensive) So, if you read so far I’m more than positive that Jamorama is the thing for you. I had the luck of catching it in my first try, I hope you will find my advice helpful.

Feel free to learn more about Jamorama
